Pet Sympathy Poems
Tribute To A Best Friend![]() unto a spot on the floor.... then I remember, it's where you used to lie, but now you are no more. Our feet walk down a hall of carpet, and muted echoes sound.... then I remember, It's where your paws would joyously abound. A voice is heard along the road, and up beyond the hill, then I remember it can't be yours.... your golden voice is still. But I'll take that vacant spot of floor and empty muted hall and lay them with the absent voice and unused dish along the wall. I'll wrap these treasured memorials in a blanket of my love and keep them for my best friend until we meet above. Author Unknown This is one of my favorite pet sympathy poems.
We Have A SecretWe have a secret, you and Ithat no one else shall know, for who but I can see you lie each night in fire glow? And who but I can reach my hand before we go to bed and feel the living warmth of you and touch your silken head? And only I walk woodland paths and see ahead of me, your small form racing with the wind so young again, and free. And only I can see you swim in every brook I pass and when I call, no one but I can see the bending grass. Author Unknown
The Power of the DogThere is sorrow enough in the natural wayFrom men and women to fill our day; And when we are certain of sorrow in store, Why do we always arrange for more? Brothers and sisters, I bid you beware Of giving your heart to a dog to tear. Buy a pup and your money will buy Love unflinching that cannot lie-- Perfect passsion and worship fed By a kick in the ribs or a pat on the head. Nevertheless it is hardly fair To risk your heart to a dog to tear. When the fourteen years which Nature permits Are closing in asthma, or tumour, or fits, And the vet's unspoken prescription runs To lethal chambers or loaded guns, Then you will find--it's your own affair-- But ... you've given your heart to a dog to tear. We've sorrow enough in the natural way, When it comes to burying Christian clay. Our loves are not given, but only lent, At compound interest of cent per cent . Though it is not always the case, I believe, That the longer we've kept 'em, the more do we grieve: For, when debts are payable, right or wrong, A short-term loan is as bad as a long-- So why in--Heaven (before we are there) Should we give our hearts to a dog to tear? Rudyard Kipling
Untitled Pet Sympathy PoemsPet sympathy poems that are from a pet's perspective, as if the pet could reassure it's owner, can be comforting. This poem can be helpful to somebody who has had to euthanize their pet for health reasons.
If it should be that I grow frail and weak Author Unknown
A Pet Memorial Poem for a DogI lost a treasured friend todayThe little dog who used to lay Her gentle head upon my knee And share her silent thoughts with me. She'll come no longer to my call, Retrieve no more her favorite ball A voice far greater than my own Has called her to His golden throne. And though my eyes are filled with tears, I thank Him for the happy years He let her spend down here with me, And for her love and loyalty. Author Unknown
A Pet Memorial Poem for a Cat![]() Weep not for me though I am gone into that gentle night.
Where would you like to go now?Grieve if you will, but not for long upon my soul's sweet flight. I am at peace, my soul's at rest There is no need for tears. For with your love I was so blessed. For all those many years. There is no pain, I suffer not, The fear now all is gone. Put now these things out of your thoughts, In your memory I live on. Remember not my fight for breath Remember not the strife. Please do not dwell upon my death, But celebrate my life.
