Funeral Thank You Notes
Write a brief funeral thank you note to express gratitude to friends and family who were a comfort at the funeral.
If the task seems overwhelming, ask a friend
or relative to help you. It is nice if the message is hand-written, but this is not necessary. It is also fine to have thank you notes written on your behalf.
At a time like this, there is not much expected
of you. So, do whatever feels right to you.
Here are some examples simple and eloquent funeral thank you notes. Keep in mind, two or three lines is plenty.
You may want to send thank you cards to:
- Clergy
- Pallbearers
- Guests
- People who made a donation in the deceased's honor
- Drivers in the funeral procession
- People who sent funeral flower arrangements
A Thank You Note to a Funeral Guest
It is not necessary to send out thank you notes to all the guests who attended the funeral. If if was particularly comforting to you to have a certain person or family there, you may want to mention it and
thank them for their support. Here is an example.

Thank You Notes to Pallbearers
When writing a pallbearer's thank you note you may also want to thank the individual's family. Since they have likely taken time off work and made other concessions to be able to be in the funeral.

Funeral Thank You Note for Donations
Even if you know the amount of money that was donated, do not mention it. However much money a person donated, just thank them for their "generous gift."

Dear Travis Smith,
Thank you for attending George's funeral and also for your generous donation. It means so much to our family to be a part of supporting the Boys and Girls Club. As you know
George was an outspoken advocate of this organization. It would have meant a lot to him to know that so many contributions were made.
Thank you for your love and support.
Sincerely,
Irene
